1950's Style Polka Dot Dress.
I got given the dress by my best friends mum. She'd retrieved this treasure from a vintage sale, and thank goodness she did.
Polka dots have been a print used since the 1950's and was known as "the happy print." It can be recognised however, from as early as 1928, when the famous disney character Minnie Mouse was first introduced to screens wearing a polka dot printed dress.
The shape of this dress is what we call "the skater dress" and the fit is perfect, naturally slimming around the waist, curving around the bust and flowing at the hips. The material is cotton, and has elasticity around the waist area; along with a simple zipper through the middle on the back of the dress.
Although the dress has no pleats, it flows beautifully and is incredibly lightweight.
So What do you think? Would you wear this dress?
