Since I've been back at uni, I've completely drawn a line under my healthy eating. They say that healthy food equates to a healthy mind, and so here are two nutritious and affordable food dishes I've prepared. Its great for students, and everything here can be purchased at your nearest Aldi.
The first dish - scrambled eggs (medium, free range) with chopped onion and diced red pepper. I have some Norwegian salmon slices (this tastes especially delicious with cracked black pepper). I also added a mixed leaf salad, with some small tomatoes and a slice of wholemeal bread. I literally just ate this with a side of apple juice and I'm Stuffed The Second dish - spicy mango chicken breast fillet slices (these are pre-cooked, and can also be eaten hot or cold) along with the same mixed leaf salad and tomatoes, followed by microwaveable Mediterranean quiona (it only takes 1 minute to cook too!) It's so easy to go to Mcdonalds or order a take out, but don't you just hate that horrible sluggish feeling you get? Eating lighter, healthier dishes doesn't do that to you! It may be a little more expensive but remember that your body will thank you for it in the long run - and plus it's a fact that food with a higher nutritional value aids your performance and information retainment while you study! You've had a long week, partied all weekend and Sunday finally arrives - as a reminder that tomorrow is Monday, marking the start to a new week... and you've woken up with a hangover, a dry mouth and possibly the words "I'm never drinking again" flutter through your brain. For all you herbal. tea lovers, and poor hungover souls, I've finally found the perfect hangover survival remedy, and it's all natural! While on my trip to Brighton, (If you don't have me on snapchat, make sure you add sweetpassion _x to follow alongside me on my adventures!) I stumbled across a Whittard of Chelsea, and rekindled my love for tea. Where, amongst the array of herbal tea's and other idiosyncratic warm beverages available for tasting, I settled for a loose tea called 'Blueberry Roobios' which tastes the equivalent of those fruity yoghurts you that would have been in your lunchbox as a child! (literally, a tea that tastes just like a fruity yoghurt) Although it is routine for me to have green tea every morning (as a replacement for abandoning my habitual tea and coffee), having Whittard's scrumptious loose tea is definitely a treat I save to give my Sunday morning's that extra chill, and is, perfect for hangovers! Roobis, is known for treating those nagging headaches, as well as insomnia and hypertension; coupled with blueberries known for easing digestion and lowering blood pressure - you're given a gorgeously delicious, health beneficial tea.
To prepare, I simply bring some water to a boil; heap two teaspoons of the loose granules into a tea strainer. (you can find these for under £5 on amazon) I hold my tea strainer over a cup of my desire, and finally pour my hot water through it! What's great about this tea, is that its also reusable! You can find this tea, as well as a wide range of other drinks and resources over on the Whittard website : www.whittard.co.uk/discount-tea_1/blueberry-rooibos-flavoured-herbal-infusion-loose-infusion.htm
So as you've probably seen, I teamed up with Afrochronicles to talk about my natural hair for an amazing video interview (if you haven't, I've linked it below, and you'll also find it over on the youtube page).
I wanted to share with you guys the incredible location we used to shoot. "Palm Vaults" located in Hackney, east London. Noted as the most "instagrammable" cafe in London by the metro! There are two reasons why I wanted to share this gorgeous little cafe with you guys! My first reason, because of the fantastic array of coffee's you can enjoy. From what I remember, the one coffee that really stood out to me, was the 'avocado' coffee, great for the adventurous and filled with those fabulous avocado nutrients! You'll also find some awesome gluten free brownies and yummy sandwiches that compliment your stay fabulously! Pictured below (bottom right) Is a cappuccino, but not just any cappuccino - a cashew nut cappuccino! Now, I know a few readers may think that the concept does sound rather odd, however this was, hands down one of the best coffee's I have ever had. I remember exactly how it tasted, creamy, smooth, and warm. The cashew, not too rich allowed the coffee to become a perfect blend of decliousness. A perfect winter drink. Following this, have you seen the place? How exotic, Earthy and hipster is this cafe? As you walk into the cafe you're greeted by probably the most chilled staff ever, their smiles as heart-warming as their coffee. Then as you proceed further into the cafe, all around you, are palm leaves. Real palm leaves. The sky, filled with plants, and they're all around you too. I recommend this place for those of you who want to escape while you try to get that 2000 word assignment finished before your 9am deadline, or for you bloggers that want to be more creative and need a place to really unwind and relax while you delve into your reporting! I've attached a link to the palm vaults official Facebook page, and don't forget that you can also check out their Instagram (@palmvaults) to see what else they may have on offer! https://www.facebook.com/palmvaults/https://www.facebook.com/palmvaults/ Everyone knows how amazing Ryvita slices are for you, particularly if you're trying to watch your calories. We all know, however, that they can be a little bland sometimes!
Above, I've dressed up the slices with a delicious rocket salad and sliced carrot! To top this off, I've used some slices of Norwegian salmon - which comes pre-seasoned with thyme! You can purchase salmon slices from almost anywhere, this salmon was purchased from lidl for probably about £4* . Of course you can tailor this recipe to your own specific preferences! Vegetarian Alternatives I know I have a good amount of vegetarian readers, so instead of using Salmon, why not try some seasoned avocado or tomato slices! |
